Chris Hodgson Surveyors Property Inspections and COVID-19

In our efforts to minimise risk to our Surveyor, Property Occupants and the wider public, if a property due for Inspection is currently occupied, we will ask a series of questions with regard to the current situation in line with HM Government Guidance. In some circumstances contact with the Property Occupant is initially through their estate agent, and, as such this can slow down the booking process for the Inspection. If this is the case, please bear with us.

The Occupants will initially be asked a series of questions to assess the level of risk, such as:

  • Are any of the occupants shielding or in self isolation?

  • Are any of the occupants clinically vulnerable?

  • Have any of the occupants displayed any symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 14 days?

  • Have any of the occupants been in contact with someone who has displayed symptoms?

  • Are the occupants happy to vacate the premises whilst the internal inspection is undertaken or to stay in one room to maintain a 2m distance at all times?

  • Will occupants be able to open all doors and windows prior to Inspection?

In addition, our Surveyor will wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as a facemask and disposable gloves where the Surveyor deems this appropriate.

No Inspection will be undertaken in a household which is isolating because one or more family members has symptoms or where an individual has been advised to shield.

As Inspections can sometimes be booked a week or more in advance, the circumstances of the Occupants may have changed from the initial risk assessment and this will be checked before arrival for the Inspection.  If it transpires that a previously booked inspection cannot progress, we will contact the relevant parties to advise and re-arrange the inspection after a 14-day period has lapsed and only if it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during these unprecedented times
